Obituary of Verdun Venn

Peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the age of 82 years. Beloved husband of 53 years to Mary Alexandra Venn (nee Kawa). Loving father of Verdun Jr. and Vincent. Predeceased by his parents Lt. Col. William Percy Venn and Louise Venn. Brother of the late Betty Lou Poole (John). Dear uncle of Merri Jones (Alan) and Christopher Poole (Cathy). Sorely missed by Olympia and Purrnelope. A special thanks to Gail Gray, Paul and Shirley Morra, The stellar Staff of ICU, also the phenomenal Nurses of 1B, 2C, 3B, Dr. Geni and Dr. Barbeau. Verdun followed his love for geology throughout his careers with Algoma Ore Properties (Geological Engineer), Sault College-Geology Department, Chairman of Science and Natural Resources, Sherrit Gordon Mines Exploration (Chief Geologist), Lac Minerals, then returned to Sault College to teach Surveying. At Verdun's request, there will be no visitation or service, cremation will take place. If so desired, memorial donations to ARCH or the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
