Obituary of Barbara Nichols

With heavy hearts we regret to announce the passing of our wife and mother, Barbara Nichols in her 81st year on Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Sweetheart and loving wife of Frank, 9 days short of their 60th wedding anniversary. Cherished mom of Frank (Mari), Cathy, Paula, Beth Mills of Thessalon and Laura Cresswell (Bob) of Kincardine and her son-in-law Derek Mills of Iron Bridge. Loving and special Nanny to Frank and Jeff Nichols, Christine and Stephanie Russell, Kevin, Marabeth and Keith Mills, Trevor and Amy Cresswell. Barbara is predeceased by her parents Alex and Margaret Turpin (Malone) and her brother Robert Turpin (Sandra) and grandsons William and James Mills. Beloved sister of Betty Gjos (late Stan) and Yvonne Smith (Danny). Dear sister-in-law of Margaret Ramsay (late Russ), Art Nichols (Jean) of Red Deer, Mary Pickard (Wayne) of Batchewana and Jerry Nichols (Edith). Barbara will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara was the former vice-chair of the Ontario Health Discipline Board. She was a very active member of the Catholic Women's League for over 50 years. Our mother was happiest when she was surrounded by her family; her family is what she lived for. She will be in our hearts forever, but it is now time for mom to be at peace. Friends may call at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass at St. Jerome Church on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. with Monsignor Victor Amadio officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Arthritis Society, ARCH or charity of your choice would be appreciated. A thank you to all those who cared for Barbara in a gentle and compassionate way, especially the Palliative Care Unit (1B) at Sault Area Hospital.
