Obituary of Rosemary O'Connor

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Rosemary Ann O'Connor into the loving hands of Our Lord on August 14, 2012 in Port Hope, Ontario. Rosemary was the daughter of the late John Alphonse O'Connor and Rosemary St. James who passed away in 1965 and 1995 respectively. As the second eldest of 8 siblings, she is survived by her older brother Regis (Joanne Belsito), younger sisters and brothers, Sharon (Ron Watters), Tom (Elizabeth Meeks), John (late Diane Milezzi), Patrick (Andrea Rosborough), Kathleen (Doug Holmes) and Dan (Cheryl Booth). Our sister was married to the late Jim Frazer and was stepmother to the late Roberta (Tim Clement), Nancy (Bob Luck) and Janice (Randy Mattioli) and survived by five beautiful grandchildren. Aunt Rosemary was mentor to many nieces and nephews and will be fondly remembered as an incredibly loving, kind and giving aunt. She led by example and was dearly loved by all. As a career lady she worked in the Sault Ste. Marie financial industry. She was the General Manager of the Algoma Steelworker's Credit Union and contributed her expertise to many Provincial and National Credit Union Organizations. The motto "People Helping People" was well suited to her lifestyle. She was involved in various Charitable Organizations, an Executive of the local Zonta Organization, chairing on the General Hospital Board are a few of her many contributions to our community. Her involvement in our community resulted in her winning the Sault Ste. Marie Medal of Merit in 1992. Rosemary was active in her Parish Community, as well as serving as a financial advisor on the Bishop's Diocesan financial committee. In retirement Rosemary enjoyed her summers at her cottage on Batchawana Bay and her winters in the Cobourg area. As a consummate traveler to Europe, Asia and Australia, Rosemary was well informed on world affairs. Friends may call at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 5 until time of family prayer service at 9 p.m. A memorial mass will be celebrated at Precious Blood Cathedral on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 9 a.m. with Father Hamish Currie officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
