Obituary of Mario Spina
Please share a memory of Mario to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on October 2, 2012 in his 91st year. Born May 12, 1922 in Cleto, Italy. Beloved husband and best friend of Ida for 64 years. Dear father of Mary Lepore (Vince), Rosetta Cuglietta (Mauro) and Franco Spina (Jane) of Kitchener. Cherished Nonno of Robert Lepore (Christine), Aimee Hooey (Jeremey), Cristina (Matthew) and Melissa Cuglietta and Benjamin Spina. Great Nonno of Talia Lepore. Brother of Elvira Lorello of Italy and predeceased by his brother Eugenio and sisters Rosaria Bruni, Saveria Spina and Emilia Fernandes. Brother-in-law of Nerina Buffone. Mario will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. When it came to setting an example to his children of how to treat one's spouse with love and respect, he set the bar high, and it continues to this day through his children and grandchildren. Mario was a man of great wealth - but not in this society's materialistic, worldly view - for his treasures, his wealth, lay not in material goods, but in those places where time cannot erode or waste away - a place where he cultivated a legacy of generous spirit, love and loyalty of family, and strong, respectful, enduring relationships. Friends may call at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Friday, October 5, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Gregory's Church at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Ron Ambeault officiating. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial donations to the SAH, Heart & Stroke of Ontario or charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Many thanks to caregivers from WeCare Home Health, Revera Home Health and SAH.
