Born March 18, 1931- Died peacefully in his home October 27, 2012. Jerry was the beloved husband and friend of Marie (Payette) for fifty-six wonderful years. Jerry was a loving father of Richard Booth (Sue), Elizabeth Morris (Richard), Cheryl O'Connor (Dan), Lyle Booth (Darlene), Gordon Booth (Jennifer McCallum), Lori Palumbo (Brent), Scott Booth (predeceased by Denice Lizotte), Linda Tharby (Clive), Diane Bissonette, Marilyn Cromie (Michael). Loving Grandpa of 28 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was the son of the late Doris (Grandma Goulais Bay) and Joseph Hill. Jerry was predeceased by his brother Reynold (Ren) Bertolo. Fondly remembered by his numerous nieces and nephews and Jerry's loyal companion Missy. He worked at the Algoma Steel plant for 37 years and actively participated on the Musicians Union Board, Steelworkers Retiree Club Board and the Seniors Health Advisory Committee (SHAC Advisory). Dad was a man of many talents. He was the captain of his pontoon boat on the Goulais River. He worked his magic for many of our breakfasts with his blueberry pancakes made from scratch. His stories as only he could tell them. His Saturday night euchre games. All the endless dances with his "Little Napanee". All his beautiful handmade Christmas crafts for his children from wind chimes, to bear carvings and board games. Jerry's great passion was his Country & Western music for over 65 years. He was a talented musician and was especially proficient on the steel guitar, bass and rhythm guitar. He played with numerous bands in Sault Ste. Marie and surrounding area. He was a very kind and loving, grandfather, papa and great grandpa. He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. At Jerry's request cremation has already taken place. A private funeral service will be held for immediate family members only.
