Obituary of Giovanni Spina

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Giovanni, in his 87th year at ARCH on Monday, December 17, 2012. Born in Aiello, Calabro, Italy. Beloved husband of Anna for 65 years. Most loved father of Eugenio (Pirjo), Gaetano (Sandra) and Marcello. Most treasured Nonno of Anna (Jamie), John (Crystal) and Lisa (Nikolay), Sara (Mike), Joey (Lacey) and Marisa, Racheal (Jay), Cory (Kari) and Matthew. Loved great Nonno of Domenic, Anna-Lisa and Mia, Michela and Carsen, Kaylin and Sophia, Kyra and Olivia and little Joey. Brother of Antonia Guzzo (late Antonio) of Sault Ste. Marie and Rosaria Cuglietta (Nicola) and Rosa Medaglia (late Eugenio) of Italy. Predeceased by his brothers Salvatore and Gaetano. Uncle of Eugene Guzzo (Angela), Phil Guzzo (Claudette) and late Orlando (Laverne) of the Sault and many other nieces and nephews of Italy. Giovanni worked for the Separate School Board as a caretaker, the last 20 years at Holy Family. After his retirement, gardening was his passion. If we ever had to find him, that's where he was, gardening, smiling happily. Friends may call at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial donations to ARCH or SAH would be appreciated by the family. The family would sincerely like to thank Dr. M. Febbraro and Dr. S. Buehner for their outstanding care and compassion.
