Passed away peacefully at the age of 99 at the F J Davey Home, Thursday February 7, 2013. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Anselmo (March 9, 2001). Ida was born in Apricena, Foggia, Italy on May 9, 1913. Daughter of the late Angelo and Felicia Lombardi. Dearly cherished and beloved mother to Elvis (Rose); Albert (Susan); Maria (Joseph). Loving grandmother to Todd Sniezek (Heather), Lauren Ballem (Scott), Leslie Elvidge (Richard); Matthew Ferranti (Katheryne) and Kirstin Sniezek (Jason). Loving great grandmother to Amber, Annabelle and Ava Heaney-Sniezek; Beatrice and Orson Ballem. Survived by her sisters Lidia and Licia Lombardi and brother Giulio Lombardi of Porto San Giorgio, Italy. Predeceased by sister Aldina of Spain, brother Elio Lombardi (Pina) of Porto San Giorgio and Sister Concetta of Milan. Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews in Windsor, Detroit and Italy. Our mother spent the last 6 years at the Davey Home. She was a very wise, intelligent woman and her faith kept her going every day. Her passion and joy for her children and grandchildren was endless and she enjoyed telling all of us the stories of her life. In keeping with Ida's wishes, friends are invited to attend a funeral service in the Chapel at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11:30 a.m., with Father Trevor Scarfone officiating Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial donations to the Group Health Centre Trust Fund or ARCH would be greatly appreciated. A special thank you to all the wonderful angels of Apple Orchard, 2nd floor, Krista, Julie, Pat, Wendy, Angie, Sandra, Tara; Dr. Hirvi and the entire staff of The Davey Home. You are truly the nightingales of God. A very special thanks to Janice and Jerry Dolcetti who visited our mother regularly on Sunday mornings after mass. To Rita who shared her dinners at the same table with our mother and who spent the final days at moms bedside watching over her. To Father Hamish Currie for giving our mom her Last Rites.
