Obituary of Gilda Melchiorre

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Gilda Melchiorre at the Sault Area Hospital on Saturday February 1st , 2014 after a brief illness. Beloved wife of almost 50 years of Nino. A devoted mother to Mario and his wife Dawn, and the late Liza. Loving and proud nana to Mia and Ava, who were the joys of her life. Predeceased by dearly loved parents Ralph and Louise Cundari. Gilda will be remembered by brothers Lui, Rocco and Joe and sisters in law Barbara and Denise, brothers in law Giovanni and Mario and sisters in law Lucia and Luisa and many nieces, nephews and Godchildren. Gilda's greatest joy was cooking wonderful meals for family and friends. Her lasagna, risotto and meatballs were second to none. We will miss her dearly but she will live in our hearts forever. Thank you to the doctors, nurses and hospital staff for the excellent care provided. A special thank you to Violet Krmpotich and Armida Millions for support with and care of Gilda during her illness. In keeping with Gilda's wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday February 17th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Gregory's Parish. The family will receive friends following the Mass. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Children's Wish Foundation.
