Obituary of Joan Shackleton

Her earthly suffering is over. She has victory in Jesus! Joan went home to her Lord on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at A.R.C.H., surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 69. Beloved wife of Allan for almost 53 years. Dear mother of John (Ruth), Lin (Paula) and Donald. Loving grandmother of Ryan, Patrick, Corey (Brittney), Mitchell and Hannah. Dear daughter of the late Wesley and Charlotte Young and dear sister of Linda Young and the late Marilyn VanSteeland. Daughter-in-law of the late John and Jennie Shackleton and sister-in-law of Jean Barber, Margaret Barr and the late Stan Cameron, Jim Shackleton, Irene Gjos, Anna Beilhartz, Cora Connell, Ernie Shackleton, Elsie Clark and Ruth Shaule. Special aunt to Catherine VanSteeland, Charlene and David Eisbrenner and Stephan and Carol VanSteeland and their families. Also survived by many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Desbarats on Saturday, May 24, 2014 with visitation from 11:30 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Craig Rankin officiating. Interment of ashes at Port Findlay Cemetery. Memorial contributions to A.R.C.H. , the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada or the St. Joseph Island Museum would be appreciated. Special thanks to Dr. Buehner and the workers and volunteers at A.R.C.H. who took such good care of Joan while she was there, to Dr. Beduhn who was her doctor for almost 40 years and took such good care of her and to everyone else who helped look after her these past several years.
