Obituary of Gunther Saarela

SAARELA, Gunther (SCHNABLEGGER) - It is with sad hearts the family of Gunther Saarela announces his passing after his courageous and hard-fought battle. He will be fondly missed by his wife of 50 years, Margaret (Holt) Saarela. Also lovingly missed by his son Gregory, daughter-in-law Shaun and grandson Nathan. His special furry friends Teddy and Painter will miss their morning walks. His willingness to lend a hand and help out his friends, family and neighbours was endless. He is known for his generosity, honesty and sense of humour. Family and friends were always the centre of his life and his desire to bring everyone together has been the glue that kept his circle of family and friends together for many years. He will be missed by everyone whose life he touched. In keeping with his wishes Gunther will be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at SAH on floor 3B. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Ontario Finnish Resthome or Sault Area Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated by the family.
