The last time I saw Billy was in July 1960. If my memory is still with me, he lived on Korah Road near Korah Road Park. He was 20, I was 16. We played baseball all day every day in that little park. Billy was much older than us and he never wanted to “bat”…just wanted to play 3rd base “for both teams”. He was huge…and what a glove…I also remember he had a heart of gold. It takes something good in a man to make another man such as me (8,000 miles away in Hong Kong) to want to tell his family that he was special to me even though we probably never spoke to one another. His presence was “felt”. I have “no” idea what kind of life Billy had, but I suspect it was filled with joy and pain at the same time. Anyway, Billy is with God now and I can still see his looming figure beside that tree that was third base. Love… Ray Socchia….. Hong Kong…. rsocchia@yahoo.com

God Bless you Bill. Your pain and suffering is now gone and your job now is to watch over your wonderful family. You are their Angel, of course as you always were. My memory of you will be forever cherished... I always loved how you made Theresa, Carolone, and I laugh in our much younger days... all our antics and shananigans did not go unnoticed by you ... and one thing I will always remember is that if you weren't jokingly guiding us towards a better direction, then you were mentoring us with as much of your own experiences and your own wisdoms as possible ... you always had a way of enjoying us and coming down to a much younger and youthful level which we loved and respected .... You will be so terribly missed by all that knew you. Love Tammy Kelly-Palumbo xoxoxo

I didn't know Bill Sr. well but I know my good friend Billy. He is a great guy that has all qualities you look for in a friend and I am sure that these characteristics originated from a Dad who had every reason to be proud of his son. My condolences to the family and friends of Billy Sr.
