Obituary of Concetta Romano
Please share a memory of Concetta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother Concetta on February 11, 2015 in her 80th year, at home surrounded by her loving children. Concetta was the matriarch of our family, selfless and strong, bringing us together for Sunday dinners, teaching us the importance of family. Concetta fought a courageous battle and never gave up hope for more time with her family. Her strength, sense of humour and positive attitude made it a joy to care for her. Connie will be greeted in heaven by her loving husband Salvatore. She is the mother of Catherine Vaillancourt (Jack Lombardo), Mary Horbatuk, Lucy (Steve Fronzi) and Nick (Tracey). Devoted Nana to Deanna Fronzi (Brad Lavergne) and Matthew Fronzi, Andrew Horbatuk and Victoria Romano. Concetta was born on July 28, 1935 to Marianna and Bruno Gervasi in Simbario, Italy. She left Italy to join her brothers in Montreal, Canada in 1953 where she later married the love of her life Salvatore. They spent their married lives and raised their family in Sault Ste. Marie. Daughter-in-law of the late Caterina and Nicola Romano. Sister to Nicola (late Elizabeta), late Francesco (Carmela), late Fortunato (late Lisa), Maria (late Bruno Roti), Salvatore (late Dolores), Dominic (Huguette), Teresa (Joseph Torresan), Immaculata (Giuseppi Ruscitto) and Cosmo (Tina). Sister-in-law of the late VitoAntonio (late Lisa), late Luigi (late Yolanda), late Nicolina Romano (Francesco), Francesco (late Caterina), late Elisabeta Lombardo (late Francesco), the late Orsoloa Scopacasa (late Domenico) and late Bruno (Maria). Special aunt and friend to Maria Guilliano. Aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gregory's Church on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 10 a.m. with Father Alex Saurianthadathil officiating. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Donations to the SAH Cancer Care Fund or charity of your choice would be appreciated.
