Obituary of Elmo Wegher

Unexpectedly, with family by his side Elmo passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the age of 87. Elmo immigrated to Thunder Bay from Italy in 1952. He married Norma Muzzin on December 29, 1956 and moved to the Soo shortly after. He enjoyed many years working for McLeod Brothers and made many life-long friends. The outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, working in his garden, making wine and cooking were a few of his passions in life. Elmo is survived by his brother Volmarino (Elvira) of Thunder Bay, and his sisters Tina, Olga, Graziela and brother Sergio all of Italy. Also survived by his sisters-in-law Darlene Bertolin of Windsor, Lois Evoy (Rick), and Louise Bailot (Louis) of Thunder Bay. Special nieces and nephews Dennis Wegher (Leah), Lena Owens (Norm), Tina Kaethler (Marko) all from Thunder Bay and many more in Canada and Italy. Predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Norma, his parents Adolpho and Palma Wegher, many siblings and Norma's parents Luigi and Zelda Muzzin. Friends may call at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Monday, February 23, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mr. Len Monico officiating. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
