MAITLAND, GARY RALPH SR. - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father, papa, brother & friend at the Sault Area Hospital on Friday, April 10, 2015; surrounded by the love of his wife and family at the age of 73. Much loved husband and lifetime best friend of Ellen for 48 years. Proud father of Laurie Vowels (Frank Day), Darla (Frank Toms), Cheire Caple (Harley), Larry (Trisha) and Gary Jr. Devoted papa to Ed, Melissa, Joshua, Keith, Amber, Kyle, Chelsey, Nicholas, Hannah, Noah, and Evan. Great papa to Derek, Chase, Zoe, Kaleb, Isabella, Jeana and Wyatt. Predeceased by his parents Thelma and Hector Maitland. Brother of late Bill (Gladys), late Ray, Vernon (Barb), late Murray, Howard (Sandra), Cora Ladouceur (Ken), Linda Ladouceur, Beatrice Ladouceur (Dale), Betty Ladouceur (Louis) and late Myrna. Son- in- Law of the late Fred and late Marie Ladouceur, Brother-in-Law of the late Jack James (Eileen), late Mamie Gagne (late Rod) late Jocelyn Dickenson (late Joy), late Donald James (Anna), late Albert James (late Marilyn), late Tim James, late Doreen Cresswell (late Roger). Gary was also predeceased by son -in-law Ed Vowels Sr. and grandson Graham. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his "Best Bud" Francis. Family and Friends are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral service to be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with reverend Helen Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to SAH -Critical Care Unit or ARCH would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Gary's stroke team at the Sault Area Hospital. The doctors, nurses, therapists and staff that provided care over the past three weeks were dedicated, focused and compassionate.
