Obituary of James Karalash

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Jim in his 78th year, peacefully in his sleep at home on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. Devoted husband of Gail for nearly 56 years and loving father to Kevin (Brenda), Kim Montgomery (Terry), and Karen (Bill). He has now moved on, to be reunited with one of his best fishing buddies, Glen McMillian, and his beloved furry side-kick, Pepper. Born on September 15th 1937 and raised in Goulais River, Jim was a successful self-employed logger who always put his family first. He will always be remembered for being an outgoing, kind, and giving man who would have given the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Jim will also be fondly remembered by his friends for his big smile, the chats during coffee break at The Zone, the never-ending waves given to all who passed by him in the truck. Brother to George Karalash (Caroline), Shirley Pigeon (Harold), David Nanchin (Linda), Linda Madsen, Randy Nanchin, and John Karalash (Verna). Adored Grandpa (Papa) to Jessica (Marc), Rolly (Crystal), David, Danika (Darren), Kayla (Jake), and Kody (Autumn). Brother- In- law to late Gary Leveille (late Barb), Jack Leveille (Mona), Cherrie Leveille, Janet Donegan and Judy Donegan. Godfather to Kathryn Johnstone. He is predeceased by his parents John and Lena Karalash. He will also be missed by his extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews and good friend Pat Vachon. The family of Jim would like to extend a special thank you to the team of first responders from the Goulais Fire and Rescue. Family and Friends are invited to gather at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Sunday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Service in the chapel on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Charitable donations to Goulais River Fire and Rescue, Canadian Cancer Society or Charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. "Keep the campfire burning for us, Grandpa."
