Please share a memory of Mario to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With the utmost sadness and regret, we announce the passing of Mario Triestino Bruni, "Pops", at Sault Area Hospital on Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at age 84. For 65 years he was the adoring husband of Rosetta Bruni (nee Cuglietta). Predeceased by his parents Luigi and Rosaria Bruni and his mother and father-in-law Michele and Costantina Cuglietta of Cleto, Cosenza, Italy. Family was at the centre of Mario's life, and he did all he could to support his. He was a 36 year employee of Algoma Steel and worked several part time jobs. He derived great pleasure working in his son's butcher shop, as Pops, perpetually smiling and whistling, particularly when making batch after batch of his famous Italian sausage. Cherished father of Luigi (Terri Brooks), Rico (late Judi), Marcello (Rose), Carlo (Beatrice), Suzie (Mario Bressan) and Ugo (Giselle) all of Sault Ste. Marie. Devoted Nono to Michael (Meeka Tomasic), Isaiah, Adrianna, Angela, Stephanie (Jordan Romel), Corina, Danielle, Cassandra, Sarah, Mario, Anthony, Paolo, Monica, Daniel and Brianna. Loving brother of the late Mafalda Pagliaro (late Carmine) of New Kensington, PA. Brother-in-law of Gina Bossio (Armando), Marcella Cuglietta, late Frank Cuglietta of Cleto, Cosenza, and late Giovanni Cuglietta (Maria). Zio Mario will be sadly missed by his nephews and nieces. Many thanks to all our wonderful caregivers, especially these last few years during his struggle with dementia: Dr. Frank Ianni, Dr. Marisa Vance, the dedicated souls in Sault Area Hospital 3C, PSW Bob, many specialists, EMS workers; and, of course, the team at Shopper's Drugs Pharmacy, Cambrian Mall ("Everybody awake?!"). Friends may call at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral mass at St. Gerard Majella Church (211 Pentagon Ave.) with Father Francis Ezenezi officiating, on Tuesday, April 26 at 11:30 a.m. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial donations made to Sault Area Hospital or the Alzheimer Society, would be appreciated by the family.
