Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family on May 10, 2016. Born in Cosenza, Italy, Giovannino came to Sault Ste. Marie in 1962 with his wife and three young children to seek a better life for them. His family was his greatest pride and joy. Sole mate, best friend and devoted husband to Lina for over 63 years. Loving father of Silvana Gioia (Eugenio), Carmine (Susan) and Dominic (Rita). Dear Nonno of Giancarlo Gioia (Stephani), Jamie Gioia (Melissa), Christina Cristillo (Robert), John (fiancé Joanna Dilabio) and Marc. Great Nonno of Olivia, Tristan, Ava, Carter, Preston, Jaxson and newborn Patrick John. Special brother-in-law of Rita Maione (late Giovanni) and dear Zio of Dr. Peter Maione (Joanne), and Angela Vairo (Frank) of Sault Ste. Marie. Loving brother of Giuseppi (Elisa) of Bradford, Salvatore of Scarborough, Franco (Rita) and Elda Barberio (Giovanni) of Cosenza, Italy. He was predeceased by his parents Carmine and Luisa, brother Alfredo, sisters Angelina and Marietta and is survived by many nieces and nephews in Southern Ontario, Italy and Argentina. He will be greatly missed by his special friends and neighbours Maria and Carmine Chiarello, and the circle of friends he made over his many years here in the Sault who provided love and prayers. Giovannino was a very humble and generous person, and a true gentleman.
