Obituary of Wladyslaw Szczotka
Please share a memory of Wladyslaw to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the age of 89. Predeceased by his beloved wife Leokadia. Cherished father of Elizabeth and Barbara. Dear brother of the late Janina and Gertrude of Poland. Brother-in-law of the late Frank and late Mary Trejgo and in Poland the late Joseph and late Jadwiga. Uncle of the late Wit and Kaz (Paulette) as well as nieces and nephews in Poland. Our father lived through the difficulties and hardships of World War II. That experience taught him the value of hard work and saving wisely. He learned the auto mechanic trade when he was conscripted into the Polish army. In 1962 dad left his home and with his family came to Canada - a new country and a new language looking for the opportunity for a better future, especially for us, his daughters. In the first few lean years after a long day at work dad would "take in" auto repairs from neighbours to help provide for the "extras." Dad was a so-so gardener. He enjoyed picking mushrooms. He had the patience to pick the cleanest baskets of blueberries. Dad dearly missed his beloved wife Leokadia. He often said he looked forward to being reunited with her. We are grateful that they are together again. Dad was blessed with wonderful and caring neighbours. Thank you Greg, Kenny and Marilyn for your help, especially with the yard work and for the friendship you extended to Dad. Thank you to the staff at Extendicare Maple View (McCarrol Lake). Your compassionate care is gratefully appreciated. Friends may call at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Funeral mass to follow at Holy Family Parish at 11:00 a.m. with Father Boguslaw Jaroszek officiating. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. A memorial donation made to the Holy Family Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
