KRUPKA, Jaroslawa Anna (Pekelny) - Passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Great Northern Nursing Centre on Sunday January 24, 2010 at the age of 89. Beloved wife of the late Peter Krupka. Cherished mother of Mary (Walter) Borowicz. Loving Baba to Melanie (Derek) Sibenik and Christine (Marty) Perlini. Special Great Baba to Jessica Sibenik, Meagan and Hannah Perlini. Dear Aunt to Emil (Gloria) Krupka, Ed (June) Krupka, Irene (Rob) Talosi and their families and many nieces and nephews in the Ukraine. Loving Godmother to Dr. Orest (Marianka) Kinach and family. Anna was born in Burkaniw, Ukraine, October 24, 1920 to her loving parents, the late Anastasia and Peter Pekelny. Anna is predeceased by three brothers and four sisters, and is survived by one sister, Malveena, in Ukraine. While working in France, Anna met her true soul mate Peter, whom she married in 1945 and in 1947 they immigrated to Canada. Anna devoted her life to her family, friends and the church. She served as Vice-President of the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League for many years, and was an active choir member. She was well known for her beautiful soprano voice and performed at many special events/concerts. She taught us love, respect and the importance of having strong values. Most of all, she showed us the genuine meaning of a mother's love. She is a true inspiration to us and a wonderful role model. Mom, Baba, Great Baba and dear friend, we will miss you more than words can say. Friends may visit at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church at 293 St. George's Avenue on Sunday January 31, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with Panachyda at 8:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday February 1, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with Msgr. Anton Szymychalski and Father Jerry Lazoryk officiating. Internment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Our sincere thanks are extended to the extremely dedicated and caring management and staff at Great Northern Nursing Centre with special thanks to Wendy, Roberta (Tendercare Nursing Home) and Brenda Pratt, N.P. Your help, patience and compassion added quality years to Anna's life and will always be remembered. Our heartfelt gratitude is also extended to Dr. Fraser for his excellent care of Anna for so many years, and Drs. Apostle, Macmichael, Fratesi, Smith, Nurse Sandy Glibota, and SAH/Ambulatory Staff for their wonderful care of Anna. Memorial contributions to the St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758).
