Please share a memory of Antoinette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Passed away in Dearborn, Michigan on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the age of 97. Wife for over sixty years of the late Terry Marcon (born Ontario DeLuca). Loving mother of Barbara-Jean Tavormina (Joseph). Dear grandmother of Clay Tavormina (Addie). Sister of the late Mary Miskiw (late Henry), Lino Marcon (Aileen), the late Gino Marcon (Jean), and Rita Evenden (late Jack). Beloved sister-in-law of the late Louis DeLuca (late Lucy), the late Tony DeLuca (late Mary), late Mary Sartoretto (late Vittorio), the late Amy Gasparetto (late Hugo), Mario DeLuca (Ann), and the late Bruno DeLuca. Antoinette will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Her yearly visits, many cards and letters helped to maintain the bond between the Marcon and DeLuca families. 'Antonietta' was born to Elena and Paulo Marcon in Sarmade, Italy on October 31, 1912 and came to Sault Ste. Marie via Ellis Island at the age of eleven. Her genius mentality quickly mastered English and she became a teacher in a two-room schoolhouse in MacLennan where she taught all the subjects from the fifth grade through the first year of high school. When she had some trouble with the older boys, she called her father and asked him to send some balls and bats, thus starting an intramural softball league that exists even today. She kept on teaching after moving to Detroit by setting an example of what it is like to be a gentle, kind, caring and a graceful human being. Friends may call at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation & Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 945-7758) on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, March 5. 2010 at 12 noon. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations made to the charity of your choice will be appreciated. www.northwoodfuneral.com
