REECE, Clare Jamieson - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Clare Jamieson Reece in Sault Ste Marie on Friday, March 19, 2010 in his 86th year. Best friend and beloved husband to Betty Reece of 51 years, loving and devoted father of Kathie, Karen and Tim (Lucia), cherished "Papa" to Krista, and Karlee, special friend to Beth and "Papa" to William. He will be missed by all, but especially his constant companion, Maxx. Clare is survived by his brother, Jim (Guelph). Veteran of WWII, he proudly served oversees with the Royal Canadian Navy as a Radio Artificer (operator) from March 1943 and November 1945. A career with Edwards of Canada and General Electric established life-long friends and memories. He and Betty moved to Calabogie and then to Sault Ste Marie and have enjoyed 24 years of retirement - hunting, fishing and cottage life. His friends and family will forever miss his sense of humour, his vivid stories and escapades and his zeal for life. We appreciate the support that all have given to us during this time. If life is measured by the love and devotion of family, Clare's life was exceptional. Thanks to all of the doctors, nurses and caregivers for the care and compassion that they provided over the years. At Clare's request there will a private service for family, Pastor Jim Moffat officiating with no visitation. Interment at Ottawa Valley. Friends are invited to call, email (candbr@shaw.ca) or visit Betty and family. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, http://www.diabetes.ca. would be most appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road Sault Ste Marie 705-9465-7758). Messages of condolence may also be made online at www.northwoodfuneral.com
