We were blessed to have Mary and Fred as our cottage neighbours for 5 years at Lake Belwood, and we have many happy memories of time spent together there. Fred was such a kind and generous man, always giving of himself to help us all out. When we would pull in on Friday evening, if the boathouse door was up, that meant we would fix a quick drink and head over to say hello. By hosting all of us this way, all the neighbours bonded and became the friends we are today. What a wonderful legacy! When we watch the sun setting on our beautiful little lake, we will remember our dear friend who left us way too soon.

Mary and family, please know that we are thinking of you at this incredibly sad time. Fred was such a wonderful man, and we only wish that your time, and ours, with him could have been much longer. All of us on 8th Street at Lake Belwood owe him so very much and will miss him terribly. Much love from The Bristows xo

Fred was only at the cottage for a few summers, but his impact will last for years to come. He always had a smile for us and was always willing to help people out. He built friendships quickly and that helped bring everyone together. When he started hosting Friday nights in the boathouse it was a way for all the people to get to know each other better. We all looked forward to seeing each other at "Freds Place" and catching up, and that was the start of building the strong neighbourhood we have today. The annual tractor races are one example, but we have many fond memories with Fred. His legacy will be the community that he helped build for all of us. We miss him terribly but his spirit lives on with us.

Fred was always up first on the lake sometimes well before the birds, we always knew when the workshop door went up, everyone was welcome to drop in "Fred was the Man to see if Jerry needed to borrow a tool , and i don't know how but he always had just what we needed. Fred had many titles as a Great member of the Belwood Lake Group. He was our Security Man, Landscaper, Mechanic, Fireman, Our local friendly Drop in kind of guy for a Beer , but mostly a Mentor to all of us. We had may card games on Friday nights. My son Matthew would stop in and ask Fred to help him with stuff and Fred would always guide him to think and fix things himself. Matthew learned so much from Fred, I remember Fred just shaking his head at all the ideas my son brought up to him. Fred always commented on how beautiful our daughter Lisa is, he understood her and accepted her just as she is. Being neighbour's we got to see Fred alot and never did we see this man Rude, Anger, or disrespectful Fred was patient, Kind, Honest, Gently, Polite and he was a real gentleman. We did have the occasional battles like who's tractor runs faster or who's boats broke down the least, nothing a Friendly challenge never solved. We have and will continue to race Lawn Tractors in his honer every Sept to achieve the fasted tractor bragging rights. My family will remember Fred as the most important part of our cottage memories as having a neighbour and friend like Fred is truly a blessing. Fred may your path to heaven be lined with many bushes, and soft music, the yellow canary will launch again in your honer. Fred lives on in our hearts at the Carter's at lot 819 belwood lake

Mary our thoughts go out to you at this time. Fred was a brave man and lived his life with pride and Grace. He will be sadly missed and will always be remembered in our hearts. Wish we could be with you and Fred's family at this to hold and cry with you. Time will heal as you thought me this.
