In 1960 Dad wanted to put a basement under the house, but it was going to cost
$150 to have the it dug out by machine. To save this expense, he would dig, by hand, a few hours each night and on the weekends, and by the end of the summer he had it completed.
The lesson that I learnt that year was that no matter how big the task appears, that if you work at it a little at a time, over the course of time it will get completed.
He believed that if you needed a hand to get something done, all you needed to do was look at the end of your arm.
