Obituary of Joan Smyth

SMYTH, Joan (Buck) June 7, 1918 - September 27, 2011 Wife of the late Bernard Kennedy Smyth. Mother of Valerie (Ary Holleman), the late Ross, Ken (late Barbara), and Martha (Paul Dalseg). Affectionately known as 'Grandma Joan' to 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, extended family, and close friends. At her request there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting something in your own garden in Joan's memory. It had been our mother's wish to enjoy her garden for a final summer - a wish she happily realized. The family is most thankful for the support of the caring staff of CCAC, WeCare, Revera, and A.R.C.H. Thank you also to friends and neighbours who quietly offered on-going help and support. For those who wish to do so, a memorial contribution to A.R.C.H. or to the organizations Mom supported through her knitting - the Alzheimer's Society or Women In Crisis - would be greatly appreciated by the family.
