Passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at the age of 88. Vito is survived by the love of his life, best friend and cherished wife Anna Maria. Loving father of Maria La Tassa (late Cosmo) and Rita Pace (Tony). Precious and loving Nonno of Frank, Vincent and Anna La Tassa, Alessia and Sierra Pace. Brother of the late Bruno Roti (Maria) and Frank Roti (Angela). Brother-in-law of the late Bruno Valente (Victoria), late Antonio Valente, Sam Valente (late Rose), Caterina De Simone (late Frank), Rosina Romano (Nicola), Teresa Zaccaria (Mike) and Cosmo Valente (Lina). Vito worked in France for 17 years and brought his family to Canada in 1967. He worked for the Separate School Board as a caretaker, where he was loved, appreciated and respected by staff and students. Teachers were treated to morning espresso and delicious treats that his wife Maria baked. Vito was passionate about his garden, wine and salami making. He cherished family gatherings which included food, drink, singing, philosophical and political discussions. He lived for his wife, children and grandchildren and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. He will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Family and friends are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Veronica’s Church on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Ron Ambeault officiating. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Medical Care Fund or St. Veronica’s Building Fund would be appreciated by the family. Thank you to Dr. Jenkins, homecare and 3C nurses. The family would like to thank Dr. Devlin and especially nurse Kate for their deep compassion, gentleness and for going above and beyond.
