Thoughts and prayers to Derna's family. I remember many kitchen table conversations with this remarkable woman that remain imprinted on my mind. She shared the Red Lake days, the early years, moving to the Sault, showed me pictures and I was completely taken with how stunningly beautiful she was while being one of the toughest and hardest working and supportive people I've met. To this day my tomatoe sauce is praised by my friends because of Derna's lessons (not bad for a manga cake). I will never forget the amazing ravioli and gnocchi nights, watching the endless work in the garden. Drink beer, burp, and eat more was the motto at the DeZordo table. It's been many years but her inspiration meant more to me than anyone will know. Happy safe journey Derna. Rest in peace. Katie
