Obituary of Ellen Esther McEwen

It is with deep sadness that Ellen’s family announce her peaceful passing on June 8, 2017 at the age of 48 years.  Our determined little soldier is finally pain free after 30 years struggling with Lupus.  Much loved daughter of Edith Bernard-LeBlanc (Albert LeBlanc) and John McEwen (Johanna). Special step-daughter of Eero Laakso.  Cherished sister of Sean McEwen (Michelle) and loving foster-mother to Jenilee Neveau and her son Hunter.  Special Mommy to her fur baby, Buddy.  Loving aunt to Samana, Lexi and Solace.  Always remembered by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.  Also, lovingly remembered by her step-brother and step-sisters and their families.  Ellen will be remembered by her many friends, especially Jody and Kelly and their families, as well as her neighbours as a sweet and caring lady. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at Emmaus Anglican Church (1643 Wellington St. E.) on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Patrick McManus officiating.  Memorial donations to the Lupus Ontario, Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society or Emmaus Anglican Church would be appreciated by the family.  Special thanks Dr. Schamp, Dr. Mathew, Dr. Fratesi, Cathy Palombi (RN), Carol from the Red Cross, staff at SAH and to all the care providers Ellen encountered during her illness.  We will always be grateful to Adam, Ellen’s cab driver in Ottawa for the special gestures and outstanding service to our family.  Thank you to Ellen’s neighbours for all the help and support shown to her over the years.
