Obituary of Mary Frances Douglas
We rejoice that Mary Douglas is finally free and with her Saviour at last. Mary was 96 years old. “Blessed in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Psalm 116:15
She passed away peacefully at the Ontario Finnish Resthome on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the age of 96. Mary was married to the late Rev. Donald Stanley Douglas, the love of her life. Mother of the late Jean Ann Clement (late Robert), Lois Shaw (Mark), Grace Wilding (late David), Ruth Douglas and John Douglas (Jane). Grandmother of Anne Bradstreet White (Michael), Jonathan Edwards Shaw (Katherine), Hanna Grace Hanson (David), Donald Alexander Clement (April), Angela Grace Rogers (Jared), Douglas Dominic DiStasi, Joel Thomas Douglas (Ashley), Megan Jane Douglas and Heather Marie Douglas. Great grandmother of Graham Shaw, Eliot Shaw, Conner White, William White, Austin Douglas, Edward Clement and Ava Jean Ann Hanson. Sister of Mildred Norris of Bolton, Ontario and the late Arnold Summerville of Orangeville, Ontario. Mary will be fondly remembered by her niece Shirlee Edwards Cardiff. Family and friends are invited to visit at Bethany Baptist Church on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12:00 noon with Pastor John Howarth. At Mother’s request, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to United World Mission – Project Shaw or Bethany Baptist Church. The family is truly grateful for the loving care of the family of nurses and helpers at The Ontario Finnish Home on North Street. To each of you, we say thank you. It was clear to us that Mary was not just a client, she was a friend. She loved you and you all loved her so well.
