Obituary of William Graham Hollingsworth
Bill passed away peacefully in his 91st year at Extendicare Maple View on September 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband and best friend of Joyce for 64 years. Special and loving father of Mark (Susan), Marla (Rob), Greg (Candice) and Blair. Proud grandfather of Stephen, Kathryn, Bradley (Lauren), Abigail, Matthew and great grandfather of Debra. Predeceased by his parents Edward and Mabel Hollingsworth, sisters Edna McWatters (Clayton), Lois Halford (Reg) and brother Ron Hollingsworth. Brother of Jack Hollingsworth (Janet) and Doris McDonald (late Bruce). Brother-in-law of Alice Hollingsworth, Bruce Moore (Bertha), Emily St. Pierre (Gilles) and predeceased by Ron Moore (Jean), William Moore (Helen) and Hazel Hammond (Bill). Bill will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. A WWII Naval veteran, Bill graduated from Queen’s University as a Civil Engineer in 1950 and obtained his Architect designation in 1984. Bill worked in the planning and design department at Soo Mill for 42 years. Community involvement included several organizations and charities including Past President of Lakeshore Kiwanis Club, Sault Homebuilders Association, Professional Engineering Society, Community Living Algoma and life-long member and elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Bill was always optimistic and hopeful, and his kindness, grace and dignity, strong love of family and friends are an inspiration to us all. Memorial service and visitation will take place at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverends John and Dr. Charlene Wilson officiating. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma or ARCH would be appreciated by the family. To the 4th floor Lake Superior Staff at Maple View, thanks for caring. Our family is so grateful for the compassionate care given to our Dad.
