Obituary of Walter John Hammerstedt

Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that his family announces the passing of a kind and loving father at Extenidcare Van Daele on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the age of 95. Beloved husband of the late Ethel Hammerstedt and companion of the late Chris Parker. Proud father of Walter (Bonnie), Ann (Reg), Lois, David (Nancy)(Debra), Marilyn (Tom), Eric (Dirinda), Shelley (Mike), Iris (Peter), Sandra (John) and Carl (Eleanor). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Marion, Robert, Derrek (Trisha), Amanda (Jeremy), David, Andrea (Craig), Mitchell (Nicole), Lauren, Taylor, Mhora, Jon, Samantha, RayVon, Marc, Kaitlyn, Adam, Erin and Aurora. Great grandfather of Maliyah, Molly, Teagan, Tyeson, Cole,  McKenna and baby on the way. As requested by Walter, a private family service will be held at a later date. We would like to thank the Parker family for welcoming our father as one of their own. We would also like to thank the staff at Extendicare Van Daele and Great Northern Retirement Home for their compassionate and loving care. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
