Obituary of Donald Walsh
Donald has received a lifetime game suspension on Monday, May 14, 2018. He will not be returning to the ice after 84 years of love and caring for his family and friends. His passion for hockey played well into his old-timer years and played the game throughout his seventies. He owned a Junior B team, scouted, coached, and followed all levels of hockey. Don was known for his elbow work in the corners, speed up the middle, imaginative play making and long stick. He was born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia to Francis and Phyllis Walsh in 1934. He was a successful Great Lakes Sailor, Plumber, Electrician, Furnace Technician, Builder, Entrepreneur and collector of all things old (except his wife). The love of his life and partner of 42 years, Connie Walsh is surrounded by their combined offspring: Linda Stephenson (Garth), Heather Farrell, Kelly Smith, Laura Page, Janice Goodings (Shawn), Judy Page Provost (Marcel), Donald Walsh (Leesa), Melanie Emond (Regis), and 18 Grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Don is survived by his siblings Marie Howe, Joan Crick (Bob), Dave Walsh (Pat), Karen Walsh, Randy Walsh and a couple teams of much loved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by first wife Joan Walsh, brother Ted Walsh and sister-in-law Jackie Walsh. A private celebration of life will be held on June 9, 2018 with friends and family. As per Don’s wishes, his ashes will be spread on his side of the bed. Memorial contributions to Canadian Tire Jump Start or ARCH would be appreciated by the family.
