Obituary of Janice Marie Burk

Passed away peacefully at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. Beloved wife of Gerry Burk for 46 years. Cherished mother of Christopher Burk and Kimberley Burk. Loving sister of Bob Burns (Emma Jean). She will be missed by her niece Rachel Burns (Zach) and nephew Bryan Burns. She will also be greatly missed by furry family members Sophie and Luna. Jan had been retired for 4 ½ years after a dedicated, passionate 27-year teaching career at Sault College. Jan loved to sing and was a proud and passionate member of the Women’s Barbershop Group “The Lock Cities Chorus of Sweet Adalines” for many years. We know she will be sadly missed there. Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Memorial contributions on Jan’s behalf, in lieu of flowers, can be made to ARCH. A very special thank you to Laccey and all the special people at Vital Aire who looked after Jan’s needs so well. Also, a thank you to ARCH and their staff for making her last hours so peaceful.
