Mid-morning laughs I can almost remember
A face full of joy
Laying on the porch listening to the banter
Innocently I enjoyed
Simpler times, that echo into faded nights
Still you smiled on
Like a candle in a window: a burning light
While I played there with my crayons
Now that window is dark
The nights feel cold and bitter
But if I stop, I remember your spark
On the porch surrounded by laughter
In peace may you forever rest
