It is with broken hearts, the family of Liisa Luomaranta announces her unexpected but peaceful passing on Wednesday, August 8, 2018. Wife and best friend of Mauri for 64 years. Loving mother of Erkki (Noreen), Anne Irvine (Gordon), Lauri (Rita), Leena deSereville (Paul). Grandmother of Stephanie Irvine; Shannon Luomaranta & Nicole Andrade (Jason); Vesa Luomaranta (Sara) & Luukas Luomaranta (Marita); Chantal deSereville & Tia deSereville (Adam DeGagne). Great grandmother of Brody & Ronin Irvine; Taylor & Aiden Andrade; Mia & Aili Luomaranta; Connor, Leevi & Niilo Luomaranta. Sister of Helvi and Sylvi of Finland and predeceased by six siblings. She will be remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family in Canada and Finland. Liisa arrived in Canada in 1958 and never forgot where she came from. She wanted to share the Finnish culture and was an active member of the Finnish Community. A Celebration of Liisa’s life will take place at a later date. Contributions in Liisa’s memory to ARCH or the Ontario Finnish Rest Home Association would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the nurses on 3B and the wonderful people at ARCH. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
