Obituary of Shirley Pozzebon

Shirley passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the age of 77. Soulmate, best friend and loving wife of Richard Pozzebon for 51 years. Devoted and proud mother of Robert (Patty Donnelly) and Jo-Anna (Karlisle Hohua). Proudest Granny of Taylor, Andy, Julius, Noah and Reina. Dear daughter of the late Greg and Inez Gervais and loving sister of Marina, Marion and Gerard. Favourite Aunt of many. Beloved daughter-in-law of the late Joseph and Edera Pozzebon. Sister-in-law of Bonnie and Larry, Janice, late Gerald and the late Russell. Survived by many friends and family including her close cousin Marietta. Shirley will be remembered for her kind heart, always being ready to lend a helping hand and her easy laugh. Shirley spent her life as a teacher but more as a mother and second mother and grandmother to many. Shirley has left us with a void which will never be filled, and she will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her. Family and friends are invited to visit at Precious Blood Cathedral on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Father Hamish Currie officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the SAH Foundation, ARCH or Precious Blood Cathedral would be appreciated by the family. Shirley’s family would like to thank everyone for all the love and support we have received over the past year; your kindness never went unnoticed. We would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to those who took such great care of her, especially the staff at the SAH and to everyone at ARCH who kept her comfortable and were so compassionate. A very special thank you to Father Hamish Currie. We know you are at peace and reunited with family gone before us. There are some who bring a light so bright to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains. Rest in love Shirley.
