Obituary of Gayle Marie Mendicino
It is with great sadness the family of Gayle Mendicino shares of her passing on Sunday, November 4, 2018. Gayle is the much loved and amazing mother of Larissa McCorkell (Sean) and Lauren Werth (Philip). Guardian angel of her three granddaughters Haleigh, Phoebe and Paisley. Cherished sister of Roberta Theisen (Michael) and the late Ralph Mendicino. Beloved daughter of the late Albert and Lena Mendicino. Dear aunt of Nicholas Theisen, great-aunt of Ava Ridley, special niece and cousin and incredible friend to many.
Gayle, the eldest of three children, was always a “little ray of sunshine” and would spread that joy and her love of life in all of her endeavours—as a cheerleader and member of the Sir James Dunn choir, a theatre arts performer, a leader of St. Jerome’s Church Youth Group, a faith-filled educator (retired from Huron Superior Catholic District School Board), an active member of the Associates of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Catholic Women’s League and St. Jerome’s Church 9am choir. She touched the lives of many and made a lasting imprint on everyone’s heart.
Gayle will be remembered for her beautiful soul, compassionate heart, fun loving personality, faithfulness to prayer, tenacious spirit in the face of adversity, endless generosity, love of Lake Superior sunsets, bright smile and infamous genetti cake.
The family thanks you for your patience and understanding regarding funeral arrangements and invites you to join them in celebrating Gayle’s life; a life lived with joy. Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Memorial Mass to be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at St. Jerome’s Church.
