Obituary of John Opala
Heaven gained an angel on Saturday, February 16, 2019. Peacefully and surrounded by his family, John Opala in his 81st year, passed suddenly at the Sault Area Hospital. Waiting for him with open arms and dancing feet, he was reunited with his wife and soulmate, the late June Opala. He will be forever missed by his cherished family. Beloved father to Andy McGrath, Patti Favot (Vince) and Mary-Kay Antonello (Joe). Proudest Papa to Patti-Jo Gridzak (Aaron), Phil Favot, Megan Monahan, Connor Antonello (Brittney), Blake Antonello, Don Antonello (Pam) and Tom Antonello (Erin). Great-papa to Arthur-John (AJ), Joey, Alexa, Reed, Lennon and Quinn. Dear brother of Pauline Marinich (late John), Sylvia Rollin (Paul) and predeceased by his siblings Stella Ciceri (late Don), Joseph (Jean), Raymond, Edward, Stanley, Walter and Florence. Loving brother-in-law of Madeline Wray and the late Victor Larocque. His sidekick and furry companion Bella will miss him dearly. John’s gentle, caring and loving nature will shine through all of the many lives he touched. He will always be remembered for his beautiful gardens and love for the returning birds and animals. In keeping with John’s wishes, a private service was held. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Dan Tappenden (RN) and Dr. Ehsan Mohammadi from the SAH for taking such good care of our family. – Thank you Dad and Papa for choosing us, and giving us all of you. You will be forever missed. Memorial donations made to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
