Obituary of Giovanni Fata

It is with great sadness as we announce the passing of Giovanni Fata on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Sault Area Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.  Giovanni will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Lina, of 58 years.  Loving and cherished father of Pina Di Flumeri (Paul) and Nancy Pinelli (Eddy).  Adored and special grandfather to Michael and Jessica Di Flumeri, Celina, Jonathan, and Natalie Pinelli.  Son of the late Giovanni and late Maria Fata.  Son-in-law of the late Francesco and late Mariuzza Briglio.  Dear brother of the late Pietro Fata (late Paolina), late Oreste Fata (Anna), Vittorio Fata (Checchina), and late Arturo Fata (late Eugenia).  Brother-in-law of the late Luigi Briglio (late Ida), Vittorio Briglio (Paola), late Anna Mollame (late Giovanni), late Adamo Briglio (Angela), and Celestino Briglio (Silvana).  Giovanni will be forever remembered and loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Giovanni was a very genuine, hardworking, and kind-hearted man who loved his family endlessly. He was the happiest when family was together. His wife, Lina, was his best friend and soulmate. He was extremely proud of his daughters and his grandchildren.  He enjoyed attending mass every week and being part of the church.  He loved going for daily walks, especially with his beloved dog, Bobby.  He took great pride in his home, his large vegetable garden, and his beautiful flower gardens. 

A very special thank you to the dedicated doctors and nurses at the Sault Area Hospital-ICU, Dr. Di Fabio, Dr. Ghosh, and Dr. Landry for their immense compassion, respect, and care given to our whole family during a very difficult time of our lives.

Our hearts are broken. Eternally missed, eternally loved. 

A private family visitation will take place. Friends and family are invited to a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Paul Conway officiating. Memorial donation to the Sault Area Hospital Intensive Care Unit or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758). 

God needed an angel in Heaven so He called our dear father above.
It breaks our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home.

We will always cherish our beautiful and happy memories that we shared with our father and loving husband Giovanni, with everlasting love and prayers.
