Obituary of Abbie Vaes
It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Abbie, surrounded by his family on Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice. We take great comfort knowing he is now reunited with his beloved wife of over 50 years, Lois (February 21, 2019). Loving father of David Ferguson (Barb), Ken Ferguson (Kathy), Donna Majic (Tom), Nancy Brunetta (Andy Kozak) and Katrina Trebinskie (Corey). Wonderful Grandfather of Jennifer Turner (Bob), Samantha Harris (Jeremy), late Laura Ferguson, Mark Ferguson, Jason Ferguson (Heather), Scott Majic (Sallina), Lesley Adams (Brandon), Adam Majic (Meghan), Stephen Brunetta (Shanna Selinger), Andrea Brunetta (Jacob Howell), James Trebinskie and Kyle Trebinskie, Great Grandfather of 9. Son of the late Hendrik and the late Maria Vaes. Brother-in-law of Lieve Vaes (late Hugo). Abbie was proudly one of eleven children born and raised in Belgium and predeceased by all but three siblings and loved by extended family in Belgium. Much loved uncle of many nieces and nephews around the world. Son-in-law of the late Thomas and Astrid Elliott. Brother-in-law of the late Thomas Elliott (late Elsie), late Robert Elliott (late Doris) and Richard Elliott (Terri). A private celebration of Abbie’s life has taken place. Memorial donations to ARCH or The Algoma Autism Foundation in Abbie's name would be greatly appreciated. Very special thanks to the staff at Collegiate Heights, nursing staff on 3B at the Sault Area Hospital and the staff and volunteers at ARCH for their compassion and care of Abbie.
