Obituary of Joyce Mary Hollingsworth
Our beloved mother Joyce passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at ARCH on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at the age of 85. She is predeceased by Bill - her loving husband of 64 years, and her best friend. Loving mother of Mark (Susan), Marla (Rob), Greg (Candice) and Blair. Proud grandmother of Stephen, Kathryn, Bradley (Lauren), Abigail and Matthew, and great grandmother of Debra. Predeceased by her parents William and Margaret Moore, brothers Ron Moore (Jean) and William Moore (Helen) and sister Hazel Hammond (Bill). Sister of Emile St. Pierre (Giles) and Bruce Moore (Bertha). Sister-in-law of Jack Hollingsworth (Janet), Alice Hollingsworth (late Ron), Doris McDonald (late Bruce), and the late Lois Halford (late Reg) and Edna McWatters (late Clayton). She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Joyce graduated from nursing at Grace Hospital in Toronto in 1952. For over 20 years her registered nursing career focussed on long-term care, much of that time spent serving as Director of Nursing at Van Daele Manor. Following her retirement from Van Daele Manor, Joyce served as a member of the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal. Joyce filled our house with love and laughter and was the glue that held our family together. She was a breast cancer survivor who always kept a positive attitude, no matter how bad the situation. Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service in the chapel at 12:00 noon with Reverends John and Dr. Charlene Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to ARCH or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Our family is eternally grateful to Dr. Bowen and all of the staff at the Sault Area Hospital and ARCH for the wonderful and compassionate care given to our Mom.
