Obituary of John (Jack) William Falkins
Peacefully passed away at the Algoma Manor Nursing Home on Monday, July 8, 2019 in his 91st year. Beloved husband and best friend of the late Marjorie. Survived by his children R. Jack Falkins, Cheryl McMillan (Tom), James Falkins (Jennifer), grandchildren Tom McMillan (Angie), Sheri McMillan, David Walker, Susie Shapton (Shawn), Jeff Barrow (Tammy), Jennin Tremelling (John), & Jimmy, great grandchildren Easton & Joshua McMillan, Cole Walker & Justin Walker, Natalie & Ben Shapton, Chelsea & Jana Barrow, sister-in-law Joyce Smith and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughter Sharlynn (late Dave), siblings Marilyn Hunt (late Jack), Leo Watcher (late Athene), Winnifred Johnson (late Howard), Agnes Brown (late Norm), Ray Falkins (late Ruby), Laurene Charlton (late Royce), Maxine Porte (late George) and Bobby Falkins. Jack was born on December 6, 1928, son of the late Fred and Cora Falkins. He worked for Loblaws for a number of years, built his own IGA in Woodstock, Ontario and owned and operated Trails End Lodge at Montreal River Harbour with his wife. After selling the lodge and moving to Sault Ste. Marie Jack and Marjorie operated John Street Minimart before retirement. He was an avid golfer for most of his life and loved farming at his son’s house in Sault Ste. Marie. He particularly loved spending time with his son Jim and granddaughter Jennin and her family. Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Funeral Service to be held in the chapel at 12:00 noon with Mrs. Helen Smith officiating. Interment will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Prince Township. Memorial donations to ARCH or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
