Obituary of Jim Foster

Passed away peacefully in his beloved home on St. Joseph Island on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the age of 82.  “Jim” is survived by his former wife Joan Marie Foster with whom he shared 25 years of marriage, and his loving children Kerry, Katherine, Steven and Lawrence.  He was the proud Grandfather “Buppa” of Kai, Quin, Jett, Agnes and Thomas.  He will be missed by his long-time companion and cherished friend Chris “Chrissy” Allen. A man of letters and nature; prior to retirement, Jim “the professor” taught at Sault College where he led the English department and was active in his union. Jim was an outdoorsman, passing along his love of nature, and his skills in fishing, hunting and boating on to his children and grandchildren. Friends are invited to a memorial reception “come-and-go” on Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Sault College Waterfront Centre located at 18 McPhail Ave on the St. Mary’s River in Sault Ste Marie. A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date on St. Joseph Island. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
