Obituary of Vincenzo Iozzo

Peacefully, surrounded by his loving and dedicated wife and family on Tuesday, October 8, 2019. Loving son of the late Domenico and Caterina Iozzo of Italy. Vincenzo entered heaven’s doors after a lengthy and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Loving husband and best friend of Antonietta Iozzo for 61 years. Beloved father of Catherine Wray (late James), Lina Yardanoff (Joseph), Rita Garca (John) and Dominic Iozzo (Debbie). Special Nono of Christina Bruno (Paul), Jessica Trovarello (Dylan), Melissa Trovarello (Dan), Matthew Garca (Krissi), Myah and Ellah Iozzo. Dear brother of the late Nicola, Domenico, Giuseppe, Roberto, Francesco and Maria; Giovanni and Tony all of Italy. Brother-in-law of Vincenzo Pitaro (Immacolata), Nicola Pitaro (Lina) and the late Antonio and Liberata Pitaro of Sault Ste Marie, Domenico Pitaro (Lina) and the late Guisseppe Pitaro (Concetta) and Giovanni (Pina) of Italy. Special uncle of many nieces and nephews. Vincenzo immigrated to Canada in 1966 to start a new life for his family. He enjoyed many years working for the City of Sault Ste. Marie maintaining the greenery and flowers around town. For many years he cared for the animals at Bellevue Park and planted the beautiful flowers that could be found throughout the park. Vincenzo could be found working in his own garden harvesting beautiful vegetables and flowers or in his wine cellar. Sunday suppers were always his favorite, when his whole family came together. Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Funeral Service to follow in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Father Trevor Scarfone officiating. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ontario Finnish Resthome Association - New MKK. Vincenzo’s family would like to thank the exceptional and compassionate staff at the Ontario Finnish Resthome MKK A side for the care provided to Vincenzo. We are forever grateful. Salute Nono!
