Obituary of Amelia Burns
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Amelia Burns. Surrounded by her loving family, she went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 22nd, 2019, in her 94th year.
She was married 68 years to her cherished partner in life, the late James Burns (2013). Precious mother of Nancy Aronson (Don), Barbara Burns, Glennice Burns (Leo Groarke). Devoted and proud Baba of Jessie and Natalie Snyder. Daughter of the late John and Natalie Roga. Dear sister of the late Mary (late Rex Hanlin), late Tonka (late Walter Stac), late Jennie (late Rudy Wheatley), and Anne Dumanski (late Rudolph). Sister-in-law of the late Robert Burns (late Jerry), late Alex Burns, George Burns (late Dolores), Rae and Sharon Burns. She will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Our Mom had an entrepreneurial spirit. Mom started her career at Pinch’s as an accountant, then worked as a tester at Algoma Steel, and spent 40 years as a decorator and interior designer. She retired when she was 80.
Working with our Dad, Mom created award winning flower and vegetable gardens, and built many houses. Mom was Ukranian and proud of it. Mom was famous for her cabbage rolls, perogies, and the most memorable cream pies. No one could pick Nokomis Beach blueberries like Baba.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mom’s medical professionals, Dr. Marianne Beduhn, Dr. Karen Booth, and Nurse Jackie, who all graciously attended to her care.
“Take delight in the Lord and he shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
At Mom’s request, a private service will be held. Pastor Benny Kjiersdam will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation, Elim Tabernacle, or the charity of your choice.
