Passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Sault Area Hospital on Friday, January 17, 2020 in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Lauris for 68 years. Cherished Dad of Jennifer Bourgeois (late Michael), Carol Armstrong, Judy Armstrong and Susan Armstrong. Lovingly remembered by Charles and Debby Coe. Much loved Grandpa of 11, Great Grandpa of 20 and Great Great Grandpa of 2. Son of the late Robert and Leota Armstrong. Dear brother of Lois Burton (late Paul), Stan (Joan), late Dorothy Olar (late Alec) and the late Bob (late Hazel and late Shirley). Eldon will be greatly remembered by his brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. Eldon worked at Algoma Steel for 30 years in the diesel shop. After retirement he steel lathed a train and gave children rides at the Bush Plane Museum. He was a proud member of the Algoma Model Engineering Society and enjoyed his time sharing the talents and friendships within the club. Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service to be held in the chapel on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Scott Krug officiating. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations to ARCH, SAH Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
