Passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord, Wednesday May 6, 2020 in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Joan for 59 years. Loved father of Shelly Amato (Henry), Albert (Bobbi Jo), Spencer (Sandra), Duane (Donna) and Katrina (Marc). Grandfather of Adam and Aaron, Connor and Owen, Elliot, and Alexander. Step grandfather of Jessica and Sara. Son of the late Albert and Sadie Ross. Son-in-law of the late Joseph and Maryann Whalen. Brother of the late Jean Allard (late Lorne), late Earnest (Pat), late Shirley Turner (late Jerry), John (late Janice), Melvin (late Sue Carol), Rita Foshang (late Howard), Maxine Kraemer (Len), late Ken. Brother-in-law of late Oneta Harman (late Marshall), Katherine Morin (late Alec), late Dorothy Ouellette (late Joseph), late Jim Whalen (late Kay), Edith Duff (late Edmund), late John Whalen (late June), late Howard Whalen (late Margaret), Robert Whalen (late Thora), Raymond Whalen (Hilda), late Mona Cole (late Robert) and Diane Beckett (Gordon). Jim was a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church for many years. He valued his faith and his church community deeply. The prayers and support of friends over the past few years was greatly appreciated and provided a source of comfort for him. This notification cannot begin to encompass the man that was a good and caring father and husband. His legacy lives on in the moral compass he provided in his children. A private service will be held at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Paul Conway officiating. Memorial donations to Our Lady of Good Counsel Building Fund or ARCH would be appreciated by the family.
