It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, nonna and great grandmother Annina, suddenly at the Sault Area Hospital on Friday, May 15, 2020. Born in Serra D’Aiello, Italy on January 1, 1929. Beloved wife of Serafino for 69 years, most loving mother of Silvana Carlascio (Pat) and Tullio (Jannette), the adored nonna of Jacob Porco (Sandra), Joshua Porco (Allison) and Dante Carlascio (Ashley). Loving great grandmother, bisnonna of Christian Porco, Millie Porco and soon to be Baby Carlascio. Predeceased by her parents, Pietro and Angela Ianni Palarchio and her in-laws Salvatore and Rosaria Porco. Cherished sister of the late Vittorio, Italy, late Ettore (Lella), SSM, late Mario (Gina), Italy, Florinda Nicoletti (late Ernesto), Seneca Falls, New York, and Armando, Toronto. Loving sister-in-law of the late Domenico Porco (late Margherita), SSM, late Emilia Pirillo (late Alfredo), Australia, Flora Furgiuele (late Eugenio), Australia, Rocco Porco (Maria), Italy, Ortenzia DeCicco (Giovanni), Germany, Mario Porco (Noelene), Australia, and Santo Porco (Cheryl), Australia. Loving aunt of many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by many of her dearest cousins, relatives and friends. Annina will always be remembered for her kind giving ways, always putting others first. She made sure that before you left her house you had some baked goods or food to bring home. She was an excellent cook and baker. She was the best role model. She was a very hard worker and took pride in her work at the Housekeeping Dept., Maternity Ward, at Sault Area Hospital. One of her biggest joys was the love that she had for her grandsons, always ensuring that a hot lunch was waiting for them when they ran to her house from school for lunch. She had faith, hope and loved everyone to the fullest. A private family service will be held at Northwood Funeral Home (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758) on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 with Father Trevor Scarfone officiating. The family would like to express their thankfulness and gratitude to all the caregivers for Annina throughout the years: Dr. Opryszczko, Dr. Hill, Dr. Russell, Dr. Bignell, Dr. Cziffer and Dr. Susan Febbraro, and all the caring nurses and staff at Sault Area Hospital. Memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation, ARCH or St. Gregory’s Church would be greatly appreciated by the family.
