Obituary of Quinto Scanga

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Quinto Scanga announces his unexpected passing on Saturday, September 26, 2020. Beloved husband to Ada Scanga (nee Mazzuca). Proud and loving father of Lorena. Beloved son of the late Francessca and Lorenzo Scanga. Cherished brother of the late Clemente Scanga (Fernanda) and Vicenzina Mazzotta (Sisto) of Italy, Carmela Muto (Giuseppe), and Rosetta Politano (Franco) of Switzerland. Zio of Sonia, Francessca, Flavia, Fiore (Mirella), Rosalba, Saveria (Sergio) all of Italy, Angela Rizzo (Ralph), Marilena Bondi (Matthew), Joanne, Fabio, Antonio, and Loredana of Switzerland. Nephew of the late zio Francesco Scanga (late Chiara), late Antonio Scanga (Betta), late Peppino Scanga (Teresa), late Nicola Scanga (Franca), late Norina Scanga, Scina and Girdo. He will be remembered by many cousins, nieces, and nephews in both Italy and Canada. Quinto will be dearly missed at the Primavera Banquet Hall during dinner/dance events sharing a glass of vino with many family friends, especially Nino Di Pasquo, Rita Maione, Rita Palumbo, the Rizzo family, the Coccimiglio family, Ersilia and Ortenzia Naccarato, Consolta Carello (Connie), and many more. Quinto will be fondly remembered by Sam Cicchitano (Maria) of Thunder bay, Lugi Scanga (Maria) of Toronto, and his pup ‘Maia’. Quinto will always be remembered as a hardworking, compassionate, gentleman, who would always help a friend in need. He was born in Lago, Cosenza, Italy and came to Canada in 1969 where he created a beautiful new life. Quinto loved teaching his daughter Italian traditions such as; making fresh homemade salami and authentic Italian tomato sauce in the garage with his wife Ada, baking fresh bread every Sunday, frying Italian donuts “Culluri” at the Primavera with his friends and lastly his famous homemade invention of potato wine “vino”. Quinto had a love for reading, learning, and sharing past historical events and stories, especially of Italian culture and history. He loved his garden, no matter how long or hard his day at work was - you could always find him in the backyard watering his plants with a smile on his face until the sun-set. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Steve Mazzuca, Dr. L. Pistor, Dr. M. Jenkins, the nurses and staff working within Mental Health Services at SAH.
