Obituary of Geesje Wagenaar

Please share a memory of Geesje to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Monday, November 2, 2020, at the Sault Area Hospital, our mom Geesje, also known as Grace, closed her eyes and quietly slipped away, with her daughter Bernice holding her hand. She was just one month away from having her 100th birthday. She was born in Terband, The Netherlands on December 1, 1920 and was the last surviving sibling of her family. She is predeceased by her husband Catharinus on August 18, 1966. She now joins him in her well-deserved rest. Grace is survived by her children, George Sjoerd (Millie) of Grimsby, Teddy Tetje of Welland, Bernice Wietske Higginson (late Terry), and Hieke, of Welland. Beppe of John Higginson (Osvaldo) of Miami, Jody Schryer (Gary) and their daughters Riley and Reagan, and Catherine Fera (Luke). Step Beppe of Leanne Dabbs and her children Hannah and Ethan of London, and Ashley of Fort McMurray, daughter of predeceased step grandson Marty Black. At mom’s request, there will be no service. With an abundance of caution due to COVID-19, the family will not receive condolences in person. You are welcome to join the journey for Interment at Greenwood Cemetery on Friday, November 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m., but please wear a mask. Please park in procession at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758) at 1:45 p.m. and please remain in your vehicle. Mom was a long-time supporter of the General Hospital Auxiliary, knitting hundreds of beautiful baby outfits for the gift shop. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Sault Area Hospital Foundation in her name, would be appreciated by the family. Special thanks to Dr. Bowen, Dr. Luke Fera, and Christine, RN on 3C for their care and compassion. We would also like to thank the residents of Lions Place for keeping a watchful eye on mom when she was out and about. Most of all, her siblings want to specially thank Bernice for always being there for mom. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758).
