Obituary of Michael Byrne
Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mike Byrne, peacefully at home with his wife by his side on Wednesday, October 28, 2020. Loving husband, best friend and travel companion of Sandy Byrne. Beloved son of Beverly and John (predeceased). Loving brother of Shellie (Michael) and Mark (Shirley). Beloved son-in-law of Bill and Fran. Brother-in-law of Cathy (Brian), Debbie (Doug) and Bill (Freda). Uncle of Shelleena (Chris), Roshell (Brandon), Shannon, Jonny (Sarah), Shawne, Brent (Aurora), Justin (Meaghan), Morgan, Ursala, and Lloyd. Mike will be missed by his aunts, uncles and cousins. Mike loved his fur babies (predeceased) and is now forever connected.
Mike will be missed by his Soo family, Eric and Sharon, Scott and Heidi, Dan and Sue (the MW gang), and Carrie and Reg. Mike will also be missed by the guys, Pete, Rick, Dennis and Simon, his Golf Gang, his adopted Camp family, the Fleming’s and the rest of the Camp Gang.
Mike had many fond memories, connections and friendships working 30 plus years as a civil servant. He loved his camp and felt blessed to have lived by Lake Superior.
Mike’s wish to stay at home was possible only by the support of his wife, friends, family, neighbours and community health care team. It truly took a village of love. The family is forever grateful for the kindness and special care from Dr. Leahy, Dr. Kurniwan, Dr. Apostle, Carrie-Lynn, Beth, Jeremy, Leslie and Rachal, nurse Holly, PSW Gail and the expert team at Sunnybrook Hospital’s ALS Clinic Dr. Zinman, Dr. Coish, Paula, Olive, Mayzelle, Brianna, Cecilia, and ALS Society of Canada.
A special thank you to Northwood Funeral Home. Because of COVID-19, the family will be having private family Celebrations of Life. Memorial donations would be appreciated to ALS Society of Canada, Sunnybrook Hospital ALS Clinic, or the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society.
Mike loved life and courageously fought ALS. I am forever grateful for your love, laughter, and support. It was my privilege to be on this journey with you. Love Sandy
